Our Goals

Student Enrichment 

We will provide students with resources and enrichment opportunities that link to classroom learning and build community. We will prioritize events that support well-being, engage students’ interest in challenging ways, and inspire them to dream big. 

Family Engagement 

We will promote partnerships between home, school and community that reflect what NHE families say they need and value. We will sponsor and support a balance of educational and community-building events. 

Partner with NHE Staff 

We will collaborate with NHE staff to support their work with children and families. We will provide resources and coordinate volunteers to assist with programs and projects. We will affirm our appreciation for NHE staff in tangible ways, including advocacy for strong public schools at the state and local level. 

Community Supporters 

Because active community engagement is a predictor of student success and strong schools, we will partner with individuals and local business leaders who believe in our mission and want to support our school. Likewise, we will welcome anyone who is important in the lives of our children (grandparents, other relatives, family friends, etc.) to join us. 

Advocacy 

We will promote awareness of legislative issues, education issues and current educational reform. Through increased PTA membership we will develop a more powerful legislative voice at the national, state, and local levels. 

Membership 

We will work to ensure that the membership of Newport Heights PTA reflects the rich diversity of our families and our community. Every family will understand that their perspectives are valued and necessary to our success. We will listen first, then acknowledge and address barriers to a fully representative PTA. We will strive for every Newport Heights student to be represented in PTA by at least one significant adult in their lives. 

Care and Support for Volunteers 

United in our mission to make every child’s potential a reality, PTA volunteers will use their passion, expertise, and time to advocate for children. We will provide flexible, meaningful, and fun ways for people to volunteer and assist them in being successful. Each year we will identify a diverse group of leaders willing to guide our efforts and keep us focused on our mission. We will be intentional about noting people’s accomplishments and thanking them for their service. 

Communications 

We will employ varied communication methods that provide every family with timely, impactful information to help their children learn and thrive. 

Health & Safety 

We will be flexible in our planning, prioritizing the health, safety and socio-emotional well-being of children and their families, including developing contingency plans for those times when in-person PTA gatherings are not possible. 

The 2021-2022 NewportHeights PTA Goals were approved by membership at the September 9, 2021 General Meeting.
