The main objective of the Bi-Lingual Family Translator program is to increase parent and family involvement in schools. Their role is to allow for effective written and verbal communication between home, PTA, and school that will increase families sense of belonging and ability to participate.

Classroom Family Liaisons facilitate communication between the PTA and families in one classroom. They spread the word about upcoming PTA events and encourage families to take part.

Newport Heights Elementary PTA is a child advocacy organization. Our legislative mission is to speak on behalf of all children and youth at the local, state, and national levels. We partner with PTA at the state and national level to inform and educate families about key legislative priorities.

The Dolphin Dispatch is regular PTA newsletter that is distributed electronically. The Dolphin Dispatch provides school news, PTA activities, as well as school district and community information of interest to families.

Newport Heights PTA is committed to keeping our community updated on what's happening in our PTA as well as our school community. We use our social media channels to advocate on behalf of children and youth. We are active on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Bellevue Schools Foundation’s mission is to promote and fund the best possible learning opportunities for all students in Bellevue’s public schools. We partner in that goal by appointing an ambassador as a liaison with the foundation.

Every dollar of your donation goes directly to fund our efforts in supporting your child and your school community and your donation is tax deductible. Remember to ask your employer if they provide a donation match program.

Every $10 donation will go directly to support a student who is unable to afford to purchase a book at the annual book fair. The annual book faire raises funds for the Newport Heights Elementary library. (In the event that more donations are given than there are students in need, the remaining money will go to the NHE library budget). Thank you for gifting the love of reading to our NHE students.

Each year, PTA funds teacher grants for innovative programs that go beyond the normal classroom curriculum. Teachers apply for grants in the fall, and the PTA Board awards the funds in December.

We sell high quality t-shirts and sweatshirts with our school logo. Sold in a wide variety of sizes for your whole family to enjoy.

While fundraising is a definite benefit to holding a Book Fair (NHE Library receives a percentage of all Fair sales), so is uniting kids with literature and bringing the community together in honor of that mission. Fairs also provide you with the opportunity to engage in reading with your kids and tune in to their passions.

Field Day is a fun way for our children to let loose at the end of the school year. In collaboration with staff and parents, the PTA organizes an event with over 20 fun activities, including multiple water stations, sack races, face painting, and much more! This event provides a unique time for our children to engage in fun outdoor activities with their fellow students shortly before summer break.

Seattle Audubon’s Finding Urban Nature (FUN) is an environmental education program for schools students. It introduces 3rd and 4th graders to the natural world in their own schoolyard habitats.

Volunteers assist with helping students locate and check out materials, shelving books, and light cleaning to keep the library in tip top shape.

The Read-a-thon is a fun PTA program that promotes literacy and creates good reading habits. Students have the option of gathering sponsors to make pledges for their reading time or for a flat donation. Any amount raised will help and is greatly appreciated! These sponsors are typically family, close friends, neighbors, and parents’ work associates.

This is a National PTA arts competition program. Areas of submission include visual, music, photography, and literature. The theme is determined by the National PTA. Winners from each school compete in the district, district winners go on to the state competition, and state winners go on to national competition.

Each year our PTA provides funding for these school-wide special gatherings designed to entertain, educate, and empower our students.

The Newport Heights PTA Science Fair is held each year in the late winter/spring, and all students are invited to participate by entering a science project. Also, attending the evening event of science displays.

The PTA sponsors or supports a number of events to celebrate our 5th graders as they complete elementary school head to middle school. A group of dedicated parents helps organize, plan, fundraise, and host the 5th grade graduation celebration, and assists students in selecting their legacy gift to the school.

5th Grade Graduation Fundraising

All donations will be used for the graduation ceremony, celebration party, a legacy gift back to the school and a congratulatory gift to each student. The average cost of graduation activities per student is approximately $50.

The general PTA budget does not cover any of these costs. Your donation of ANY amount is welcomed and appreciated. With everyone's help we can make the 5th grade graduation celebration something our kids will remember. Thank you for your support!

The Angel Network at Newport Heights provides a helping hand to NHES families who need extra support with basic necessities. The network is a confidential, behind-the-scenes PTA program made possible by donations from Newport Heights families.

Newport Heights PTA partners with our principal, Jane Kopf-Stover, to offer informal meetings on a regular basis. These gatherings are a good opportunity to hear about the school's teaching and learning goals, to ask questions, and to meet others parents and family members. Dolphin Chat is offered in-person in some months, and virtually in others, to include as many families as possible. Dates and times are posted on the PTA calendar.

Join the Newport Heights Elementary community for games after hours at the school! Bring your favorite game(s) to share, or come explore new ones. All ages are welcome at this PTA-sponsored event for Newport Heights families.

The PTA partners with our principal, Jane Kopf-Stover, and a district Family Engagement Specialist to offer educational programs for Newport Heights families. Topics are chosen based on your input (e.g. "how can I help my child with homework," "parenting in tween years," etc.) Family University aligns with PTA's goals to promote an inclusive school culture, where all families feel welcome and valued.

Bring your blankets, pillows and low-to-the ground chairs to the NHE gymnasium, and enjoy a free movie screening. All ages are welcome to this family-friendly event. (An adult must accompany their children.)

A celebration and coming together of the representative cultural and ethnic identities of our school. We will have music, ethnic foods, as well as performances and displays made by our Newport Heights families, community programs, and local businesses.

School Picture Day is a PTA-supported activity. Volunteers accompany students between their classrooms and the photography location. As requested, they assist the school staff and photographer in making Picture Day run smoothly.

Our PTA sponsors Pumpkin Carving Night in October. Bring the whole family with your pumpkin and carving tools. Once carving is complete, take time to enjoy everyone's creations.

Compete with friends, family and neighbors in week of virtual fun. Teams earn points by answering trivia questions or taking pictures or videos in order to complete challenges.

Dance the night away, enjoy food, get pics in a photo booth and play games!

The NHE School Play has been a treasured tradition for many, many years. We are thrilled to welcome back Angela and Terence Kelley as our professional director and choreographer. All students in 2nd through 5th grades are welcome to participate.

Trunk or Treat is a fun, safe, interactive Halloween event! Volunteers gather in the school parking lot, go all out decorating the trunks of their cars, and kids are able to trick or treat by going from trunk to trunk!

Virtual 5k event for all families, students, staff and community members to participate in. Anyone and everyone who registers, will have a week to run, walk, roll, hop, skip or jump to the 5k distance. Registrants will pick their own course anywhere they want. The Virtual 5k can be completed all at one time or broken up into multiple days.

The yearbook is a compilation of your child's school year. It contains highlights of events that occurred throughout the school year including event photos, classmate pictures, signatures and notes from teachers and friends. A must-have reminder of how special our Newport Heights Dolphins truly are.

These are informational sessions for parents on the mornings of the first day of school. Principal and Vice Principal of the school attend to answer parent questions.

There are several events throughout the school year that are school-run, but the PTA provides food or refreshments for attendees.

In acknowledgement of the time and heart that goes in to our school, the PTA hosts a number of programs throughout the year to show our sincere appreciation to the staff.

Volunteers support the school's annual hearing and vision screening program.

Walk to School Day, recognized in a proclamation by the City of Bellevue, promotes pedestrian safety and good health. Students and families join together to walk to school and promote walking as an active, safe and healthy way to get around.

We know that our PTA can only be strong when our leaders and members reflect the diversity of our school and community. Our newest program will help to inform about what our PTA does in a way that is relevant to previously marginalized groups, determine what we can do to better understand the needs of our school community, and become more of a resource for all families.

This committee handles the PTA membership drive at the beginning of the year and maintains a presence at other school family events. We are striving for 100% membership!

We love our volunteers and love to shout their praises. This program recognized PTA accomplishments, but even more importantly the gifts of self from our amazing community.
